The Barber

MEET JD

Jayden DeLaCruz grew up in Madelia, graduated here, and built JD’s Barber Co. in the same community that raised him. With a mom who has been a cosmetologist his whole life and always supported the different paths he wanted to chase, Jayden grew up around hair, self-expression, and the idea that doing things your own way is worth something.

After nine months of 40-hour weeks in barber school, he turned that interest into a trade. The training was intense, but it gave him the foundation to build on. Three years behind the chair later, Jayden is still learning, refining his craft, and building a shop that feels unapologetically like him.

JD’s Barber Co. was opened with a simple goal: bring back more of the traditional side of barbering in a time when some of those old-school details are slowly disappearing. That means taking pride in the cut, making room for good conversation, keeping the straight razor in the rotation, and creating a space that feels comfortable instead of rushed.

For Jayden, the best part of barbering is the people. He’s made real connections through the shop, and helping someone leave looking better and feeling better gives the work a sense of purpose. JD’s is meant to feel familiar from the minute you walk in, with hot towels, classic barber products, good black coffee, and a chair you don’t mind coming back to.
